What Can Mac Familiarisation Do for You?



Mac Familiarisation is a course designed to help new Mac users navigate the unchartered territory that is their new Mac. Recently, CG Computers held a special session of Mac Familiarisation for our new customers who purchased systems during the April PC Fair. Many curious new owners attended. Our resident Mac Familiarisation guru, Kant, taught the mostly recent converts how to get the most out of their Mac. Among the number were Colin and Denise Lamb, who shared their opinions about Mac Fam during an interview held at AppleCentre.



Mr. and Mrs. Lamb are not new to Apple technology. Their first purchase was a Mac mini in 2005 and they have never looked back since. Recently, they acquired a 20" Intel Core Duo iMac and a 12" iBook G4 to add to their collection. Mr. Lamb, who is an marketing consultant says that ever since a freind introduced him to Mac, it was only a matter of time before he "threw Windows out the window". 95% of the time, they use Macs at home, only switching to Windows (courtesy of Boot Camp) on their Intel iMac for 2 programmes; Pixmantec RawShooter | premium 2006 and Line 6 Guitarport. He further goes on to say that he knew how to use around 80% of the features of his Mac, but he learnt many useful shortcuts at Mac Familiarisation which helped him and his wife further unlock the potential of their Macs.



When asked about the speaker at Mac Familiarisation, Mr. Lamb said this about Kant, "He's excellent, he knows what to say, he knows how to say it and his English is very good." "Kant focused on the useful shortcuts, like how to close all windows simultaneously, and he importantly taught us what we should and shouldn't touch on our Macs," he continues. When asked whether they were satisfied with the session, they had this to say, "Yeah, Mac Familiarisation was good. We learnt new stuff. Apple's the way to go."



Mac Familiarisation is a course conducted under CG Computer's CoffeeMUG (Mac User Group) and is free for those who purchase new systems from CG Computers. Others who are interested can become CoffeeMug members for a one time fee of RM10. They can then join the Mac Familiarisation course for RM15. For none CoffeeMUG members, the course costs RM40.
